Christmas Treats for Horses (and Dogs)

Christmas time is the time of joy, friendship, warmth, peace and abundance - all the things that pets enjoy as well, all year around! The horses or dogs might not have a glue what is going on, but for us, humans, Christmas time means more.

Taking extra care of domestic animals, wild animals, even elves, has been included in the Finnish Christmas tradition. In general they have been treated by indulging them with better food and delicacy.

Banana treats

7.5 dl of whole wheat flour
4.5 dl of muesli
5 malted bananas
2 dl of water
4 tablespoons of muskots
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp honey

Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Cut the dough into a 5 mm plate and cut the dough into the shape of your desired biscuits. Bake at 170 ° C for 30-35 min.

Oat treats

2.5 dl oat flakes
75 g margarine or butter
a small crumb of buljong cube
4 dl of hot, boiled water
2 dl low lactose milk powder
2 dl potato flour
1 beaten egg
7.5 dl graham flour

Make the broth and mix the oat flakes and margarine into the liquid. Allow the mixture to cool and mix in a mixture of milk powder and beaten egg. Mix the potato flakes with dense water and add them to the dough. Finally add little graham flour with good stirring and make the dough stiff. Cut the dough into a plate and cut into pieces with hamburger molds.
Bake at 175 ° C for about 50 min. Biscuits cure when cooled.
